Eldest Daughter Vermouth
Matchbook is a small operation but somehow their output seems endlessly diverse. They get organic ingredients like herbs and produce from nearby farms and food companies and turn them into custom spirits for many of NY’s top mixologists. But what really gets us excited is their limited run spirits, of which only about 30 to 500 bottles are produced. And once they’re gone, they are truly gone, so don’t miss out! Their Day Trip Strawberry Amaro (a vermouth by another name), that we featured as Spirit of the Week in May 2022, was so popular that we ran out in just 2 days. Eldest Daughter is a dry vermouth that just screams summertime. Using biodynamic Pinot Gris grapes from Keeler Vineyards in Oregon, the wine is made in-house at Matchbook, with half of it being distilled into eau-de vie to fortify the wine. Timur Pepper, a citrusy, complex cousin of the Sichuan peppercorn grown in the Himalayas and local Elderflower from the North Fork’s Briermere Farms (yes, their fruit pies are legendary), are the featured botanicals. Very bright and dry, it will make an intriguing Martini, while the elderflowers add a hint of floral sweetness that makes it the perfect foil for a refreshing spritz! We’ll have a bottle open all weekend, stop by for a taste.. Summertime in a bottle!
