Amor de Vino - Picon Vasco
Picon Vasco is an Amer Picon-inspired fortified wine made in Rioja Alavesa. The grapes come from old vines Viura growing in the Basque country. The base wine is macerated with a mélange of local herbs including gentian root, chinchona bark, quinine, bitter orange peels, lemon verbena, molasses and botanicals. Bittersweet, earthy, root beer twang, peppery, with a touch of vanilla and cocoa.
The Producer
Amoro de Vino is produced by an all-woman owned producer in the Basque Country of Rioja, Spain. The wine is made from 100% fortified Viura grapes and is macerated with a variety of botanicals, including gentian root, chinchona bark, quinine, bitter orange peels, and Basque lemon verbena.
